  LFNAlias is a utility application for converting paths in the long file name format to or from the DOS, 8.3, file name format.

• Automatic input format recognition
• Converts paths in the "normal", Windows, long file name format into their short, DOS, 8.3 equivalents.
• Converts paths in the short, DOS, 8.3 format into the long file name format.
• Convert paths simply by dropping files into the integrated editor.
• Opens folders/files in either format, simply by selecting/highlighting them in the application's main/output window
• Can be used to list and open (known), special folders' paths
• Can be used to translate environment variables (representing file system paths) into fully qualified paths
• Can be used to open listed/converted paths in a command line (console) window.
• Can be used to open listed/converted paths in a PowerShell console window.
Targeted User Group(s)
This application addresses primarily system/network administrators and software developers. However, it may also be of interest to (some) non-professionals, for example; users of software developed for legacy, Microsoft operating system versions (e.g. Windows 3.x, Windows 9x).
Current Product Status
Development of version 1.0 concluded, but since, we've come up with some ideas for a variety of additional features, so this will probably not the last version. Release of version 1.0, pending completion of setup package(s) and user guide, projected for September/October 2018.
System Requirements
Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4, or any successor of this Windows version (including 64 bit Windows 10 editions), Microsoft Installer version 1.5 or higher, approximately 2.0 MB of free disk space.
